\'01 Yukon XL needs better high beams - ideas?

I tried Hiper 80w Xenon super blues and let me say they suck compared to the stock 60w Osram bulbs. They look whiter in the headlight assembly, but they don't throw nearly as much light nearly as far.

My '93 Burb threw a much further beam stock. Other than that, this truck kicks the 93's butt (well, it's a little closer to the ground, which is a bad thing).

    Anyone have any proven fixes?

    TIA

get the switch that allows you to run BOTH low and high at the same time....brother in law has this on his 8.1/Ali and it works great, might just get it for our D/A....

things i can think of are better bulbs, adjusting the headlight angle, or trying a 4-beam headlight conversion.

    Brandy,

You can check out the effect of this by pulling back on the high-beam switch - this will light all 4 lights.

It lights things up better closer, which I do not like when running on high beams since I've already seen it (If I'm looking where the low beams light up, I'm in trouble) or it's going under anyways (clocked a coyote like that once at 90 in a different vehicle). It adds too much glare for my tastes, esp since I do lots of running around at night.

You can try it to see what you think, tho. Thanks for trying! /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

why don't you try adding accessory lights.

there's only so much you can do to fix the problem, then after that, you just gotta live with it.

It's definitely a thought, but there's the legality state-state. Plus it's not as sano an install.

I've just added 6-8K to the truck travelling through Alaska, British Columbia, Washington, Oregon, California and Idaho.

Phoenix, Arizona requires (last I checked) that driving lights be covered and are not to be used. I make it to AZ at least twice a year, more when I can.

I have enough reasons to be pulled over, I don't need more. LOL

Hence the attempt to make headlights work. Denali lights are a direct swap, but I don't know if they work better at night and I don't want to spend $600 to find out since I can get HIDs for that. The HID replacements are for Chevs only (different headlight format than the GMC - figures).

So, I keep trying to soldier on. /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

Autometer sells the 4 way headlight wiring kit.. about $24
Also go to Sylvania's web page and read about their new lights... Try Daniel Stern Lighting page...

    Just my $.02...

Denali headlights use the same bulbs (9006) - they are not HID -

Also - '01+ Denali Headlights are available for $157 each from Jason Cromer at Sam Taylor Buick Cadillac - Florida
