Currently, my dream truck is a 1/2 ton. I'd like it to be 3/4 ton. What would it take to make this happen? /forums/images/graemlins/k5.gif

Get yourself some 3/4 ton axles put them under

    You'll need

    Possibly new brake lines
    New Driveshaft U Joints
    New Rear Axle U Bolts

    Thats about it I think

And the proper wheels and tires

You could put a 14BFF in the rear and leave the front, but you'd need to match gear ratio and lug count

Yeah pretty simple swap. A lot of people here run 3/4 and 1 Ton stuff. Find a wrecked 3/4 ton and get the axles u-bolts and spring plates. Get some new 8 lug wheels and a U-joint for the rear.

depending on your purpose......& depth of your pockets... there's a number of other differences too.
On my 91, it's frame (strength), axles & springs for starters. Tranny was different as well as brake systems. Most of these can be grafted across, but the most labor/wallet intensive one would be the frame swap-a-roo!
