1\" ORD body lift and Body swap??

    Stephan,

I have an 82 Jimmy right now and I am considering goign with a 74-75 full 'vert tub.. I got a 1" body lift for christmas and was wondering if it will work if I do the swap? I know the rear floor is a little different on the 74's and I will probably have to mfg some new mounts off of the frame for the first two rear floor mounts on the 74, but will the pucks be that same? And would I need to purchase anymore pucks?

Also, ever seen this body swap? Have any pointers?

    Mike

Mike, that's almost exactly what I did when I spliced the 73 rear tub to the front half of my 81 Jimmy. The 1" ORD kit I had plus the new poly bushings was what I used. I just built the new mount points that you mentioned. It was a PITA but the only real head ache involved. I gotta get some film for the camera and I'll snap some pics of my new body mounts at that location.

10-4. I am contemplating doign this swap. The 82 tub is pretty bad in the back and there is a 74-75 tub in the local j-yard that is in better shape than what I have. I really like the looks of the full 'vert, just not sure if I would like it more than what I have... I guess it depends on how much they want for that tub/doors/roof......

I would like to see you mounts though! Were they hard ot make?

I would strongly consider looking into cutting the half cab off instead of swapping tub styles. I have heard here on the boards that it's a pretty easy conversion to carry off. Then you could either repair your damage or replace it with a new tub which might be easier to do since it would all bolt on, and you might get a better tub since there are lots of 81-up K5's. Just a thought.
That's basically my plan for my K5, cut the half cab off and run a soft top. I may or may not splice the windshield frame to allow me to run a hard top, probably not. I haven't had a hard top in about 4 years now, I probably won't need it again.

I'll snap some pic's in the next day or two. It was actually a PITA to make the mounts...
