I have a 10 spline SM465 and NP205. They are in could shape, but the coupler has a little play in it. I understand the coupler wears more than the shafts might. Would it be prudent to just replace the coupler? I have about 300hp and 550 FT lbs of torque at low rpm.

Should I worry about the weakness of the 10 spline setup, or get a 32 spline SM465 and have the NP203 GRB fixed for 32 spline and the round bolt pattern? If so, how much does it cost to have the NP203 machined and the parts for it?

Bottom line, is the 10 spline SM465 really that weak?

To run the doubler, the NP205 has to be the turbo 400 version.
I have a Dodge turbo Diesel model 32 spline with the round bolt pattern. Will this work on the new doubler?

Do you already have a 203 for the 465? If not I have the adapter 465/203 w/ 203 range box. If interested let me know.

my 465s have a fair bit of wear on the shafts, so i wouldnt say it is limited to the couplers
the coupler is not used for the 203
you have a 32 spline female input from a dodge?
my info shows a 29 spline male and the old chev figure 8 pattern.
you sure of the application on that dodge one? what year is it?

The NV4500 the transfer case is on is out of a 1999 Dodge 3500 dually. He said something about changine the transfer case so I am not sure if it is the one that originally came with the transmission. This is the HD Cummins version NP205. For sure 32 spline input, and 32 spline outputs. 1350 front yoke, 1410 rear. Has the round NV4500 bolt pattern and uses a 32 spline coupler between the transmission and tcase. That is all I know about it. Do you think it will work on the doubler?

the doubler can be made for any combo
still have to positively ID the parts though

The guy I bought it from bought a new Cummins drivetrain from a wrecked 1999 Dodge 3500 and put it into a M715 Jeep Kaiser. He changed the transfercase to this one because it has a passenger side drop. It is a 32 spline male input. Uses a 32 spline coupler to join the 1999 NV4500 and the NP205.

sounds like he used the swap parts that are usually used by the 89-93 cummins guys to swap in an NV4500 in place of their Getrag

The Doubler requires the female 32 spline input. But you sound like you have a good place to start. The 32 spline male input is probably a modified divorced input gear. I'm not aware of a 32 spline male in a dodge but that doesn't mean it didn't happen. My dodge 205 knowledge is pretty weak.

OK, I checked with the guy I got it from. It is a 29 spline Dodge Cummins version NP205. 29 spline male input. Round NV4500 type bolt pattern. He said it came off an older Dodge cummins truck with the Getrag transmission.

Can I get a 32 spline female input for this from ORD? Will the case require modification?

    Thanks

Forgot to mention I bought a 32 spline NP208 version SM465 to avoid the 10 spline issue all together.

You will need to bore out the case since I'm pretty sure even the 29 spline input uses the small bearing. If I'm wrong on that you won't need to bore it. We do have the 32 spline input along with the bearing and seal and gasket kit. I'd pull it apart and measure the input hole before you order. It should be about 3.544 or so for the big bearing. The small bearing is about 3 1/8".
We can deal with the round pattern for the Doubler, we may need some photos to make sure it's what we think but it's a reasonably safe assumption that it's the same as the GM round pattern gearboxes.
