    A 44 and a 10B are about the same.
    Dont think its worth it.

There has been many discussions about this comparison and other rear-end swaps.

You can try the "Search" function and I bet you will find lots of information /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

i think in 89 they had better axles for some reason think they were 31 spline.but i dont think its gonna beef it up much if any.

89-91 10 bolts were 30 spline. You can't get Warn shafts for 30 spline 10 bolts.

88 and ealier 10 bolts are 28 spline. You can get Warn shafts and CTM's for them.

From the knuckle out, 10 bolt and D44 are the same. If I remember correctly, the 10 bolt ring gear is just slightly smaller, but the pinion shaft/bearings are larger. I think 10 bolt fronts get a bad rap cause of the crap 10 bolt rears. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

    You're welcome Mr. Joe /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

    I prefer the D44, but it isn't any stronger./forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

I prefer the 10 bolt. The D44 is too tight inside the front pumpkin.

Another point that wasn'tmentioned was that the D44 carrier bearings are slightly larger than the 10B... The only way I would swap one for the other are these reasons:

#1 One of them has the gears in it you need.
#2 the D44 you have is pre-74 and has the small u-joints
#3 the hot chick down the street says she wont go out with you unless you have the other axle under your rig! /forums/images/graemlins/deal.gif

    Giddy up!

10 bolts are easier to set up, since the shims are outboard of the carrier bearings and the're CHEAP!!! /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif
