I'm putting gears and lockers in my 81.Somebody has swapped a 12 bolt in the rear and i'm not sure what year it is or what it's out of.My problem is that the drivers side axle is trashed, where the bearing rides. Are 12 bolt axles all pretty much the same, and are they gonna be hard to find at a junk yard or will I need to check into new ones.
Planning to check the "yards" in the morning.Any help would be appreciated.

If you area where the "factory" type bearing rides is trashed only, napa and the other "good" parts houses sell whats called a "green repair bearing" is is 3x wider than the factory bearing, and moves the sctual contact surface so you can save the origional axles. I ran these on both sides of my rear when it was 1/2 ton. I never had any problems with them.
    Hope this helps
