I have a lead on a 12 bolt rear with 3.07 gears. What is the lowest gear ratio I could go with without changing the carrier?

I'm not sure but I seem to remember seeing 3.73 as the cut-off for 12 bolts. Go to summit.com or jegs and look up R&P's they are usually listed by carrier size if it is a factor.

Will work for beer, parts and tools.

The 12 bolt rear axle had three different carriers used. The first was for 2.73 ratios only, the second (yours) is for 3.07 to 3.42 ratios and the third is for 3.73 to 4.56 ratios. Thicker gears are made that will mount on your 3.07 to 3.42 carrier. So you can go up to 4.56 if you want you just need the correct part number.

Do you have any idea who makes the gears that will fit?

I think just about any gear mfg makes these style of gears, but I would spring for the extra cabbage and go with Richmond...
