Any information on if they are good/bad would be great. Thanks /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif

I have 2 RF Punches in a pretty sweet box, powered by some kind of amp (don't ask for any numbers or whatever, I have no clue and don't want to unbolt it from behind my seat to read it)...

Sounds really good... My brother keeps buying new subs, new boxes, new amps, new speakers, and his bass still doesn't sound as nice as mine... It's comparable, but not as good... /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

    Re: 12\" subwoofers...

A lot of those subs on that list sound kind of fishy.....

Anyway PERSONALLY, I have two MTX4000 subs, that cost me about $80 bucks new on clearance, they are a step up from entry level. I have them in a sub box I got off ebay for about $40 shipped (if you want a really nice box I can give you the guys name, its NICE) . I have a modest amp, a Profile 300x2. I got it for around $130 I think.

Anyway I put this all together, and while it isn't stupid loud like some peoples stuff, it's right at the edge of normal listening range bass. It's friggin loud and all, but not loud in the sense you go "Damn, that's LOUD"

I'm trying to figure out how to finagle a trunk onto my truck cab so I can shove them in there. I found out tonight I can just hook my portable CD player to the amps input and it 's just as good as with the deck, although no EQ and radio

Anyway, if you don't want to spend too much you can still have some damn nice bass

    EDIT

When I was out testing the CD player thing, I was leaning over the box with my head really close to it, it was unbearable, but did produce a slight sense of the cross eyed wonderwierds

    Re: 12\" subwoofers...

I personally would not use any in that list.. IN high school I had 2 12" JL's and they ROCKED... I now have 2 12" Infinity 12DVQ's and they are UNREAL..They get loud but sound SOOOO sweet...
I recently installed them and they are running of a Hifonics 1500.1 amp. The 2 subs cost $320 for the pair and the amp was $210. I have friends that have spent literally thousands on audio equipment and my entire system costs less tahn a $1000 and MINE SOUNDS BETTER. It is ALL about matching the components you buy to the goal of the system.. I wanted something that sounded AWESEOM but thta I could reattle the windows on hoses with if I wanted to...

Here is my list of TOP subs.

    JL
    Rockford
    Infinity
    RE (Resonant Engineering)

I have some Audiobahns, the ALUM12x's or whatever they are now. They sounds SWEET! Hit hard enough to rattle pictures in the house but sounds clean. Only bad thing is that they take a ton of power to run.

    Ebay, Sound Domain, and Crutchfield

    I still say MTX

I have heard good things about JL

I've always had good luck with anything Pioneer

My home Kenwood system is great

Rockford Fosgate pisses me off for various reasons, and I have heard bad things about them

Here is something I found I may save up for:
    12" sub
    and
    JBL amp

I haven't really reasearched, so these might not work together. Do you think these are good choices? By the way I will have 2 of the 12" subs /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif

Yeah I finally heard these in person the other day...They are UNREAL...2 12" RE XXX's in a ported box, each geting about 1500watts. they have like an X-max of 32mm ONE WAY /forums/images/graemlins/bow.gif ANy the crazy thing is they still sounded sweet...I am very picky when it comes to SQ systems and I personlly believe that these would easily qualify for a SQ system. But it is loud enough for a SQL or SPL system too.

I honestly believe that only Resonant Engineering's XXX, JL's W7, and MTX's 9500 are subs that are capable and flexible enough to be in ANY type of system...But there are trade-off's. All these subs are kinda spendy and require CRAZY amounts of power.

    Re: 12\" subwoofers...

I really wish I understood stereo equipment as well as I do other things. My DD has a couple amps, a pair of 12s, and a really nice coaxial up front with a matching crossover, but I'd bet if I actually knew what I was doing, it'd sound much better.

I'm not to keen on RF either

Do you want to make your head implode? That's a lot of money.....

    Amp

    Subs

$380 and $45 for a box an 400w to each sub

Versus $850 and $45 for a box and 600w to each sub

I think 150w is fairly loud

I am running 2 12" alpine typre r subs in my 87 k5 DD and I love them. They sound great. As for an amp, I recommend soundstream. Very nice amps.

[/ QUOTE ]Soundstream makes some very nice amps. For the subs, I would go with a class "D" mono block amp.
