OK so I plan to run a detroit locker.. The detroit replaces the spiders in an open diff.

What kind of carier is a gov locker? Is the detroit a drop in replacement or do you have to replece the whole carier if the gov lock is there?
I'm having trouble finding a gov locker to check out..
    TIA

You need an open carrier. The Gov-Loc carrier is completely different. There are 4 spider gears in an open carrier, while there are only 3 in a 14-bolt Gov-Loc. /forums/images/icons/frown.gif PowerTrax has a locker that will fit in the Gov-Loc carrier, but for the money I would go with the Detroit. /forums/images/icons/cool.gif

The Gov Lock is a different carrier and it will NOT accept a Detroit (or the like). Stick with the open carrier and put a locker in it, all Gov Locks self destruct eventually.

Wow, I didn't think anyone made anything for the Gov Lock carrier. Good info.

You can buy a new carrier from 4WPW for about $160.00. I also had given to me a 14bff with the gov-loc in it so I just went and bought the new carrier.
