14 bolt ff

    What all is needed or has to be done to add a 14 bolt FF to my 1/2 suburban??Some one told Me I had to move the pads?? I am buying front and rear axles out of a 3/4 ton 4x4..

    Your truck and what you said you're buying...direct swap. Spring pads only need to be moved on the rear axle if it's taken from a 1 ton truck. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

    put an 80 under my 91.... off-the-shelf U-Joint with large/smaller sides to it (NAPA number posted on here somewhere)... Mine was also a step up in brakes, so needed some items there..... some brake fluid.... New U-bolts recommended (14 is bigger!!) and the plates from donor vehicle if possible....
    and mine was a change from 6 lug to 8, so a set of tires were needed too! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
    Oh, and most important.. the case of beer to cover labor!

    14 FF didnt exit until 73, and before then were the eaton ho52 and the dana 60, 2wd versions of these from a 63-72 will bolt under a 73-87 to but oen shock mount needs to be relocated

    ratios in eatons were 4.10, and 4.57

    danas were 4.10 and 4.56 with a very uncommon 3.54

    You will also need the ubolts from the donor truck.
