I have a 14-FF from a mid 80s truck, what is the gear lube capacity? /forums/images/graemlins/burb.gif

Seems like mine took almost a full gallon of gear oil. That was from "bone dry" to completely full.

I also rotated the rear wheels on jackstands to get the lube to the outer bearings for a few minutes, then topped off again.

I only got about 3 quarts into mine. When I first filled it I only got about 23/4 quarts in. Then I went back and refilled after it had time to get to the outer bearings. I refilled and it took another 1/4 quart. I do have a "thick" 4.56 ring & pinion in there, so that might be part of my lower capacity.
