will bolt right in.. may need the conversion u-joint...

you'll need new u-bolts and nuts...

    brakes are the same...

the e-brake should work too... /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

put an 80 under my 91 sub. no issues at all. used 80 brakes (went thru them 1st), swapped lines over.. new u-joint & U-bolts and Poof! Done! (did front a bit later).. and of course a set of 8 lug rims/tires.
/forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif oops! forgot about the parking brake part! I just figured that was 'optional equipment'! but have learned otherwise!

I just completed this exact swap back in November. 1980 3/4T 14 bolt into my 89 Burb. The E-Brake hookups don't match. The burb backing plates utilize a small hole for the cables to "snap" into but the 14 bolt uses a 2 piece bracket thing that sandwitches the cable as it passes into the backing plate. I still don't have my E-brake hooked up.

Everything else is strait forward ( 3/4 T Ubolts and conversion Ujoint).

    Hope that helps.

I've heard that a 14 bolt from 85-later will have the proper e-brake cables. You may want to get one of those, if you want/need a working e-brake. I will be.

after discovering the e-brake cables on my 78 14boltff did not want to play with the setup on my 91 I looked in the shop manual for the 78 to see how it was done "back in the day". It is a fairly simple system to copy. all you will need is a little angle, some cable, a few eye hooks and cable connectors. I should have taken pictures but at the time all my wheeling buddies drove Heeps and could not care about real trucks. Now its just too f'ing cold to spend time under the beast, but if your clever it is very simple to "invent" your own solution.

Ive recently accuired a 14bff out of a 79sub. After a disc brake conversion and a paint job it will bolt up nicely to my '87 k5. Who makes a good conversion U-joint?

Measure the distance between the spring purches. Mine where different. Also, make sure the shoke mounts are in the right locations. Mine where switched. youll also need the adapted ujoint (about 30$) and If your running 15" tires and intend on staying w/ them and not goin to 16" make sure you order your rims, or adapters ahead of time. I was neglegent and soon found out that gettin 15" 8 lug rims is like pullin teeth, seein as most are a specail order item and take a few weeks to get /forums/images/graemlins/deal.gif aslo... remeber your pinion angle is gonna change because the pinion nose on a 14bolt is longer than a 10bolt...it wont change much but if your's is bad to start with itll get worse..(i just did this swap about a week ago so if you need anything just send me an email /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

10bolt axle tubes have a smaller diameter than a 14 bolt

You must have had to stretch the u-bolts into a new shape /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif, because the 10 bolt axle tube is 3" in diameter, whereas the 14 bolt is 3 3/8"

    Napa #348 if you went from a 12 bolt to a 14.
    Napa #447 if you went from a 10 bolt to a 14
