14 bolt torque spec's

    14 bolt torque spec\'s

    Yeah, yeah...did the search but couldn't come up with anything.
    I need the bearing cap torque, and the ring gear bolt torque if anyone has them off the top of their head.
    Also the axle shaft bolt torque I found in another post...seems high though. 115 lbs?

    Rene, try these:

    Bearing caps...135 ft. lbs.
    Ring gear bolts...120 ft. lbs.
    Axle shafts...115 ft. lbs.

    i need the tq for the hubs if you got them... this is all i could come up with... i know you TQ one, then back it off 1/8th turn then TQ the other with the lock washer in... i cant remember...

    If you are talking about the spindle nut my chiltons book says 50 ft. lbs. on all 14 bolt FF's

    time to re read your chiltons.
    zero preload for the bearings.
    that means no torque.

    Bette yet, just throw away the chiltons, spring the $30-40 for a used GM Service Manual, you will never regret it.

    I pre-loaded mine to fifty, then backed it off and then back to 35 just like the front and have not had any problems yet. Correct me if Im wrong Please, but it has been working just fine for well over 5000 miles now. /forums/images/icons/crazy.gif
