    14FF Carrier Swap Q\'s?

Have a few questions for y'all - want to put a 4.56 14FF in my 89' K5. Is there is a carrier change between 4.10 and 4.56 on the 14FF's? At any rate, I have a 4.56 14FF in my 94' GMC 1 ton and I'm wondering, if I can come up with a 4.10 14FF out of a 3/4 ton to bolt into my 89', can I just swap gears and carriers between the two. The 4.56's are a little steep even with the OD in my stock tire'd GMC. If I can swap like this then does anyone know what's involved in a front gear swap on the newer IFS 4x4's? Any different than a solid axle swap?

    Thanks,

The carrier split is like you said...4.10 and higher and then 4.56 and lower.

You can also get those 'extra-thick' gears to use on the 4.10 and higher carrier.

Is there a difference in the 14FF housings for the different carriers? I would think the housings are the same and that if I were swapping the carriers as well as gears than it wouldn't be a problem...
