Does the outer race for the outer bearing on the hub need to be pressed in or is it held in by the big snap ring? .......do I need to take it to a shop?? Thanks.

    pressed.
a seal and race driver and a hammer to put it in.
snap on sells a long punch with a football shaped head for removing races. most everyone uses a large screwdriver, but i liked the snap on thing so spent the bucks
<a target="_blank" href=http://www.lislecorp.com/tools/catalog/bearings/bearings.htm>here</a> is a link to seal and race drivers

After you pull out the snap ring just knock the old race out with a punch. Drive the new one in past the ring groove. Install the snap ring. Then tap the race back to flush against the snap ring. This is what my gm service manual says, and it worked well for me. It shows a special tool for pushing it back against the ring, but i did it with a punch. Just my thoughts.
