15\" Wheels on a 14 Bolt SF or FF

Are there any 15"x10 wheels that will fit on a 14 Bolt SF or FF? If so who makes them, unless anyone has any 16.5" 8 lug cheap wheels. I am converting over to 3/4 ton rear end and my 15/35/15 swampers and wheels aren't that old so the "Approval Committee" Will not let me buy some new wheels. I have a set of 1/2 worn out 36/14.5/16.5 if I can find some wheels.
    Thanks. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

4" backspace on 15"/10" wheel will do the job.

if you can do it with 4 inch of backspacing then why does eveybody run 16.5 rims and keep popping beads? what's the downside to 15's? brake clearance?

    just wondering.

15" wheels clear the 14 bolt brakes fine (unless you run rear discs -then you need 2-1/2" backspacing) -it's the front 8 lug axle that the 15" wheels will hit the brakes on (with stock backspacing). Most people won't run 15"s in the rear and 16"s up front. I got 15x12"s with 2-1/2" backspacing to clear my 8 lug front brakes and my rear disc conversion on the 14 bolt.

With the disk conversion on my 14bolt I didn't need any grinding to fit the 15x10 3.5" backspaced steel rims.

As mentioned, most people do NOT have any problem fitting 15" rims on the rear axle. I ran 15x10 rims with 4.25" backspacing on my rear 14FF with the big brakes and had no clearance issues. Converting to rear discs also usually does not cause many clearance issues because the calipers sit further inboard than they would on the front, which basically has the same affect as running wheels with a smaller backspacing.

Running 8-lug hubs in the front is where the clearance issues will be with 15" rims. With an 8-lug 10-bolt I had to do a moderate amount of grinding on the calipers to make the above rims fit, though I never worried about the strength of the calipers.

My rears would have needed a TINY bit of grinding. But since I was getting the 2-1/2" backspacing for the front -I figured I'd get a set of four. Now they all stick out the fenders equally.

Yeah -I had the BIG brakes too -and the stock backspacing 15s fit fine.

Where'd you get wheels with 2 1/2" BS?

All 4 wheel parts had was 4 1/4 for mine. I'm going to have to destroy my '60 with the grinder to get them to clear.

    From National Tire and Wheel.
Depending on who you talk to -they don't make them anymore. They DO. They're Bart/Stocton steel wheels. It says "custom backspacing available" on their ad. They were $85 each and took two weeks to ship (cause they had to be built).
If you can't find them -let me know -I'll find them for ya.

Nah. I'll just give my calipers hell and use the 4 1/4" bs ones. I like having my tires tucked in as far as I can anyway, and 16" wide tires are gonna stick out no matter what.
