    16.5\" wheel question

Hey just for my own clarification is there something wrong with this size wheel (16.5) ? ... other then the cost <img src="http://coloradok5.com/forums/images/icons/smile.gif"> I have heard there is no safety lip (or something like that) but I thought that is what humvee's use and wouldnt they be fairly decent if the military used them ? Thanks !

<font color=blue>I heard somewhere that they have too much backspace and wont work on K5s (tires hit the springs and inner fender). I was wheelin one time and some hummer was running 8 lbs of air in his tires and they stayed on so I guess they work in that aspect.

    Re: 16.5\" wheel question

they like to bust a bead when aired down. humvees have bead locks and run flats so thats really not a factor for us. plus, unless its got CITS, we dont airdown tires off-road. we just let the oil burner scream 'till we get stuck, then eat, then call for wrecker support, then eat again, then sleep in the cab with the heat on "blast furnace", then OPFOR comes by and kills us, so that means we cant move untill the end of the "war", so we eat again, and sleep and...........

So if i bought surplus humvee tires for 20 bucks each they wouldnt work because of the wheels ...... do they fit any other wheels [IMG]?

they will work with other wheels. besides, the humvee wheels are a MAJOR PIA to work with.

<font color=blue>Which hummer tires are you getting? Theres two kinds: biased (not so good) and radial (old style goodyear mt's, good). If they're the bias tires keep walkin but if they're the goodyear MTs then they are worth it.
