16.5\'s with Beadlocks

I ordered my 16.5 beadlocks from rockstomper the other day and got to thinking. The beadlock holds the tire on on the outer bead but what holds it on on the inner? Are the inner and outer beads different?

you weld on to the outside of the rim.get the rim and tire like they are supposed to be and lock the outer ring and wham you have beadlocks---there is a tech article on the pirate board in the tech section that has real good info and pics. im gonna do this also w/ the rockstomper

That was a great article but maybe I should clarify... I know how the beadlock goes on and everything but what about the non-beadlock side of the wheel(the inside). Is it possible to pop a bead on that side of the wheel?

I personally have never heard about that, but anything is possible, i would think that if it were a common problem someone would have done somethig about it.

I've heard of people taking 3/16" metal rod and welding it around where a inner safty bead would be on a 15" or 16" wheel i hear it works real good i was going to try it but i've been busy on other projects.

SMP is correct - I have a set of 16.5" beadlocks that have the rod welded to the hold the inner bead on better. You can contact Gabe Gile sof Aggressive Offroad (off the POR board) & he might give more info - he's the one that made my wheels. Sorry, But I can't find the pic I took before mounting the tire.
