17 in. tires

    is anyone running the 17in tire wheel combo. if so any pros and cons about them?? im thinking about the procomp tires. thanks

    The wheels cost too much. The tires cost too much. [​IMG] Once you buy the wheels you'll be limited to a very small selection of tires. [​IMG] I wish BFG would just make the freakin' 37-inch Mud-Terrain sneakers for a 15 inch rim! [​IMG]

    There was something about this over on POR. Someone said that the sidewalls can't take the stress on a 15; but Goodyear makes a 37 on 15.

    So they just need to make stronger sidewalls! [​IMG] Interco and others are able to make tires that are up to 44 inches tall and still work with a 15 inch rim. [​IMG]

    My daily driver truck has 17" rims, and no it's not a low rider either. The main advantage the 17" rims would have is better handling on the street because for the same height of tire there is less sidewall to flex. It's the same concept as why sports cars use low profile tires, except when you are talking about really tall tires it should help even more.
