Every day for the last month now on my way to and from work I've seen this Blazer parked on the side of the road for sale. It's advertised as a 1978 Blazer. Now I've never stopped and looked at it, but from driving by, I can see it's IFS. Is there any such thing as a 1978 Blazer that came stock with IFS, or was this something that was done afterwards? I was going to stop by and check it out as a project rig, but I don't know about an IFS one.

is this possibly 2wd??? I'm not sure what years they made these???

actually if I could find an in-expensive conversion I'd convert Jedi Mind Trick to IFS... [IMG] I know many of you are 'hearing the pain'... LOL

Not sure. I've never stopped by and checked it out up close, may very well be 2wd for all I know.

If it's not 2wd, it's custom. Some years ago, there was actually a kit on the market to convert a GM D44 to a Ford type split D44 - could it be one of them?

All 2WD GM's were and are IFS. They use A-arms and coils.

All of the 2wd were IFS from 60 up, except for HD one tons.

I think it was the trucks heavier than 1 ton, that were not IFS. Like the Kodiak and the Top Kick trucks.

They've had a 3500HD since the early 90's atleast - mostly government bought them, and they are tanks to drive. Big nasty springs and a I-beam axle - with a big funky valance between the grille and bumper - here's a pic of one pugsley.alloffroad.com

Around here, I see a lot of those 2wd 3500HD's as tow trucks (flat and end-lift) and work-body trucks.

I assumed they were IFS front because of how low they sit. OOPS! I have only seen a few but never paid them any attention.

As a side note if I ever build another p/u truck, I want to find a cab from a HD truck ( 2-5 ton ) That way the title will be for a heavy rig, and therefore get around lift laws. HEHE!

But then you may end up paying more for registration and insurance, and you might even have to pay road-use taxes...

I planned on the reg. increase, I didnt think about the road use issue tho. It would be a LOOONG time if I were ever to do it. I have a thing for the Blazers (and the F/S Cherokee) So realisticly I would prob never do it but it has crossed my mind. When I get a p/u it will most likely be a 2wd 3/4 ton so I dont get nuts and lift it also. I just know me and if it has a front end and a Tcase I will lift it. [IMG] That would kinda defeat the purpose of getting a truck to USE.

LOVE TO! Just cant get the wife to agree to move too far north. Well I dont want to be too far myself, I like SOME snow, but not a bunch. I love the winters in Fla, the summers bite it tho! And yes Ill say it, its not the heat, its the humidity. I can take it being 98 deg. Its the 98% humidity that makes it miserable! We will get out of Fla eventually, but we will prob go to N.Carolina or Tenn.

I've never seen a 2wd Blazer. But I've seen a 2wd S10 blazer, and drove a 2wd Tahoe (cop packege). That Tahoe hauled butt, that thing was fast!
