I am getting the original engine & trans, for my Burb. The motor smokes, and the trans wont get out of 2nd gear. I already have a used known good replacement trans, as for the motor??? Should I just rering the motor, and change the bearings, or should I opt for a professional job, of rebuilding? Any thoughts are appreciated.

Do it once and do it right. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

I hate doing the same job twice. You could also go shopping for a good used engine/trans from a wrecking yard that will warranty their product.
