My dad has a 1987 s-10 truck with the 4 banger and 4 spd. problem is when you start it all it does it peg out the rpm's, or you can be at a stop sign and have it rap out again or it can fall on it's face and die. We've replaced the computer and chip and the halifex(sp?) switch down in the dist. twice and we also did the fuel filter.
The only thing I can think of tis the trottle body, is there a good cleaner to use or is there an idle adjustment sensor on it??
    TIA

The TPS sensor is known for that.
Also check the IAC (i-ack) sensor it controls the idle

Jeremy has lost his connection for a short while but wishes to know where those censors are located.

They are both on the throttle body.
TPS is on oppsite side of the throttle cable.
IAC will be in the front or the rear, will stick out 3/4 to 1 inch and has 2 screws and 2 pin plug
