ok this is wrong board for this i know, but i need to find out ASAP because this is on a repair job im doing right now

1988 s-10 with 2.5L there is a temp or what appears ot be a temp sensor screwed into top side rear dirver side corner of cylidner head and has two wires and two pins, the machine shop(NAPA busted the sensor head off and ruined it and idnt say a word about it and i need ot know if the sensor is for ECM or for dash, it has mechanical fan so its not for electric fan,

anyone know if this is bad or good and if it will run in open or closed loop with it unplugged ?
i assume closed loop it will be stuck in all the time till its replaced

    thanks for anything
