    2 Crappy Pics of a GMC 2500 on 49\'s

Here are two crappy pics of a new GMC 2500 on 20" rims and 49" Iroks I saw yesterday in Mobile, AL. Not my style, but it can kind of give an idea on how big these tires really are.

rims alone look huge much less the tires, they look way bigger than 44's as was rumored

Hey man, you were in my neighborhood!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Did I miss a chance to see that sweet K5? /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

I found out through a friend that that truck was built at a local Performance Off Road. I was told that the bill was a little over $8k! /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif

Can you say Broken Axles and CV shafts? The ultimate mall cruiser. Where the heck are those tires going to if he actually takes it off road? They sure will clerance the fenders on their own when he does! Take that back, IF he ever does!

They had a bunch of those tires at the last EJS. Just huge. Makes 44's look like 35's.

I think it looks sick, but it would be better with 16.5s not 20's.

Naw, I didn't take the K5. I was down there for work. We're getting ready to start work on an apartment complex just down Cottage Hill from Schillinger. This pic was taken at the Whataburger(mmmmm) at that intersection.

I just couldn't get over how friggin' huge that thing looked. I'd love to see a mounted side by side comparison to a rig on 44's. $8K is a lot of money to throw at a rig that already costs over $35K. I don't know what these people do for money, but I need to find out.

    Where's Performance Off-Road? When I lived down there, I couldn't find any 4x4 shops.

Re: 2 Crappy Pics of a GMC 2500 on 49\'s

Ok, me being the larger, husky gentleman, I would have no idea on how to get in that thing. I would have to have a ladder, and then have to have a way to get it in and out of the bed. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I think it would be cool for a day or two, but that coolness factor wears off fast, just like the rubber on the tires.

Basically he now has a 45k dollar truck plus all the $$ spent on the "upgrades" to do what... It cant tow safely, it cant be practical for anything other than trying to drive it.

But to each his own.. I wish I had the coin to do absolutely stupid stuff with my trucks. /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif

Here a pic of a mounted 49 close to a mounted 46 Claw, not quite a truck vs. truck comparison but you get the drift.
    Webshots

    Man, we're big time now there's 3 main shops in town;

#1 The Performance Off Road is only a year or so old, they just moved into a stip of businesses on Airport Blvd (south side) about a block west of Cody Rd.. They do a lot of work but it's mostly either those huge Ranchhand bumpers or lifts like the one you saw. They also did another truck similar to what you saw but with 44 Boggers.

#2 Steve's Off Road at the intersection of Montlimar Dr. and Pleasant Valley Rd.

#3 Majestic Tires at Airport and Dawes Rd., this shop mostly does Jeeps.

Damn, it looks huge even next to a 46" and I thought that was huge compared to a 44" TSL. Thanks for the pic.

There was one place that was just getting started in business down in Tillman's Corner as I was leaving moving to B'ham. It was just north of the Bob Evans. Is that place still there?

No, no shops in Tillman's Corner now. There use to be a shop or two in the Saraland area but I haven't heard anything about them in a long time so I guess they died off too.

So are you coming to Mobile often now due to the work?

Re: 2 Crappy Pics of a GMC 2500 on 49\'s

Yeah, I'll probably end up overseeing the construction of that one in Mobile. Although I really hate making that drive from Mobile to Montgomery. Nearly 200 miles of almost nothing but pine trees. It makes for a really long day.

That project is in the pre-construction phase right now, probably won't get really active until late in March or first of April. When it does get underway, I'll typically be down there once a month or so to see if it's progressing as expected.
