#1. What are some causes or possabilities that would cause my Oil pressure needle to be very irratic at idle?

#2 Is anyone here using a TCI "sizzler" 700R4 torque convertor? Reason I ask is that this thing is supposedly a step over stock. So why shouldn't it be as good or better than the stocker I have now? Well, according to a TCI employee, he wouldn't give a sizzler TC to his worst enemy.
Recommended I get the Saturday Night special or the RV/Tow TC. I dont do any towing so which TC would be best for me?
    See profile for truck details.

#1 Mine does this too. Cleaned all contacts, swapped sending units, swapped gauges. Same thing. Suspect oil pump "slop" Still have good pressure, the needle just "bounces"

#2 I'd stick with a towing/rv converter. The higher stall converters are either smaller diamter or have a different pitch on the vanes to change the stall speed. Either raises fluid temperature if I remember correctly, and higher fluid temps are obviously not good for a 700, and would be even more pronounced if you spent a lot of time crawling at low speeds.

Why insist on counting when the ring gear has the tooth counts stamped in?

I'm running the TCI RV towing convertor and absolutely love it. It was supposed to be lower than stock but with the extra torque in my 415 it stalls about 1800 rpm rather than 1200-1500. Getting a low stall is crucial to keeping your tranny temperatures low, the higher the stall, the more heat generation. With a stout 350ci running a 222/222 durration cam at .450/.450 lift it stalled at about stock, maybe a hair lower due to the cam profile and its lack of low rpm torque. I'd be happy to give you more details if your interested.

So what stall speed Tconverter should we be looking for, for an R4. Thinking about going with the Raptor R4 unit sometime in the near future and want to know which stall speed I should choose. Thanks

My guess would also be in the 12-1500 range, but I don't deal with auto's in the trucks anymore, so I'm not qualified to answer what works best.

Well, that works out great then. My cam is gonna be lower than your specs. Im using the Ebrock 3702 TBI cam.
So now I need to fill out the return form and send the sizzler back and get the RV cam and pay the difference.
Thanks for the info. Any additional info would be great too.
