I was reading the local truck trader last night and came across a early 80's blazer that had a 20" lift and 44's on it. What the hell do u need a 20" lift for? I can only imagine the bump stear on that. Oh yea it did have 1 ton running gear on it. I cant even imagine how often this guy gets hasseled by the police!
Boy did it dwarf the car in the picture.

My question is how do you work on the engine? With a ladder?

I had an old truck with 12" suspension and 3" body lift and you litteraly needed a ladder to work on anything under the hood. One plus was that I could work on some stuff easier from under the truck ! A starter was a cinch.

There's a company in San Antonio, TX called Maximum Altitude that had a Surburban with 30" of lift on 44" boggers in an ad in the Truck Trader. His slogan..".How big do you wanna be? " Can you say, DAMN?

My bro and I found a Chevy 3+3, 4dr, longbed at a car lot. That beast was freak'n HUGE it had 46" firestones, 2 1/2 ton rockwells, 30+shocks, 30+lights hell I stand at 6feet and the front bumper was at eye level. A local wrecker service had its name all over it. The best part of all it was no trailer queen that beast has seen many a trails, rocks, and mud at least from the looks of it. Needless to say I creamed my pants. Hell I drive a semi and that thing looked bigger.

Maximum Altitude is pretty cool. From what I've heard about them, they do good work, and don't build trailer queens.

Re: 20\" lift

I saw a Ranger the other day that was one of the highest things I have ever seen. I was in my S-10 Blazer and the headlights were over the roof of my truck, which is about 6' off the ground. The tires were over 44". It was obvious that it would never get off the tarmac, though because it was so narrow it would roll over at the slightest off-camber situation.

My buddy has a 79 chevy truck with 44s and a 21" lift he has had plenty of ticketes for having it on the road. Also its kinda pointless cuz you cant see a damn thing outta it except for straight ahead.

Is Maximum Altitude a club or a store? My uncle used to work with a guy by the name of John and he had a '90 K5 with 44's here in Wichita. The guy had to move to San Antonio because of his job. He was head of a club here in Wichita called "Maximum Altitude." What's the scoop? Later

Work on it? How the heck do you get into it? It may not be a trailer queen, but it's not very practical for the trail, etc.

There was an early 90's extended cab chevy running around here in PHX for a while that had 52in firestone tires on it, and I think about 30 inches of lift. He took the lift off of it and now has it under a 97 suburban. His license plate says TOPTHS

LOOK AT THAT THING!!!!!!!! While it is kinda cool just because of the extreme size, the absurdity factor is totally overwhelming.

What is the largest street-legal tire that you can run?
I was under the impression that it was 44", but maybe
that's only in California?

Here in PHX you can get away with alot of modifications. The cops will pull you over sometimes, but can't really find anything to give you a ticket about. I saw an idiot the other day with an old dodge truck that used 1ft pipe to make a body lift. It looked pretty dangerous.

GOT ROCKS?
