    ok guys, as much as i tried to get my gf to buy at least a 4wd s-blazer or 4wd cherokee or grand cherokee, shes buying a 2000 neon, 4 cylinder auto 28k miles...anyone have any input on these? i take neons to be very durable vehicles and have heard almost all positive things about them, anything to keep an eye out for? just wanna make sure shes safe..thanks!

    headgasket problem, and wirings problem because the head gasket leaks oil on to the main harness. Other than that not a whole lot of other problems

    ive heard about the headgasket problem, cant believe they havent cleared that up by the new body style intro of 2000...when do the headgaskets normally go out??

    They normally go out a 50-60K. I dont know if they fixed it yet of not, but I know alot over them have had a problem.

    the problem is with oil leaking if im correct? not with coolant seeping into the combustion chambers..?

    I just bought a 1996 for $300.00 they thought the crank broke I took the trans out and found the flex plate spining on the crank because it broke in a complete circle?
    it cost $40.00 for a new one now it runs and drive good
    just telling you so down the road if she tries to start it and the engine spins free that might be an are to look /forums/images/graemlins/k5.gif

    cool deal... shes not planning on keeping it more than a few months as it stands..who knows why, just because i guess..

    98/99 was the introduction of the fix for the headgasket oil leak (they went from a composite gasket to a multi-layered steel[MLS] one, along w/ a revised torque spec), a 2000 should have no problem with it
