    Chevrolet Colorado

    G.M.'s mid-sized truck.

Colorado covers the segment with nine model configurations, including three suspension packages (standard, sport and off-road), three cab styles (crew, extended and regular) and two- or four-wheel drive.
    A Z71 (think ZR2), "high-stance" option will be avalible on 2wd models.

Buyers will have the choice of two new engines, a Vortec 2800 inline four cylinder (175 h.p.) or a Vortec 3500 inline FIVE cylinder (220 h.p.)

Re: This just in......... Chevy Colorado

    Comeing soon........

    > This Reporters view on the Chevrolet Colorado. <

I was hip to the idea, up until I read "5-cylinder".
    FIVE cylinder !!!!
This has to be some neck-tie wearing, mouth-breathers idea of a joke !
Hell, Why even enter the market if they aren't going to be competitive. Dodge and Toyota are selling stong and both equiped with healthy V-8s. It might have taken Toyota a decade or better to figure out that Americans buy V-8s, but they finaly "got it", and it's been pretty dang good to 'em.
    Toyota has a mid-sized truck with a V-8, and Chevy comes out with a 5-cylinder! - Crazy.

Rumors have it that the Vortec 4200 inline six with the (bogus claim) "power of V-8 and the economy of a 6 cyl" will not fit in the Colorado's engine bay.
So, they don't even have that to look forward too.
    Stupid move General.

Also, the "sport" suspension package Colorado (ZQ8) might be avalible with a Turbo Charger for the 5-cyl engine.
    Well- whoopidy fawkin' doo.

If THE Generals out there somewhere, reading this. (fat chance of that)
Too say it kindly, I'm totaly bent. Not offereing a TRUE V-8 in the mid-sized truck market is just foolish.
    Americans buy V-8s.

If I'm not mistaken this truck and the Trailblazer sit on the same front frame. The Trailblazer EXT has an optional 5.3 all aluminum V-8 so there could be a glimmer of hope. I recently looked at the Trailblazer EXT with the V-8 at an auto show and was suprised that the engine wasn't as cramped as I thought it would be.

5.3 with the ZQ-8 (type) suspension package could make one bad pavement pounder.
