Turns out I don't have any good pics of a complete 203 or 205.
205 is a one piece case, it has bolt on bearing retainers, but that's it. It's about 12.5" long
203 has 3 or 4 different sections and is about 22" long

Ford is Left hand drop, GM and Dodge are right hand drop for the front output.

Anyone else want to throw in some pertinent info here?

Spline counts are different for different versions. You could mess with the shifter and rotate it around a few times to see if it has 2wd or not (only the 205 has 2wd, the 203 if full time 4wd). Just my opinion.

Nevermind that. Many random 203 cases have been converted by thier owners. The length is the most obvious way to tell.

The 203 looks like 2 t-cases bolted to gether where the 205 is only one case.

The 203 has a range box and a chain box, hence the 2 cases..

The easiest way to tell is to look at the shifter and shifter boot, assuming there is one. If it's a five position shifter, then it's a 203, if it's only got 4 positions then it's a 205.

Look at the shift rails. If memory serves me corrctly. If it has two 3/4" rods going into the front of the case it is a 205. If it has two levers connected to rails going into the side of the case it is a 203.
