Is a 205 a 205 when it comes to the short shaft fine spline? If so, what year of Dodges and Fords did these short shafted 205s come in. Just trying to narrow down my search as I already have a Chev 205 from a th400 but it has a long shaft!! DUH-OHH!! /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Are you talking about the input gear or the rear output shaft?

Assuming you're asking about the rear output, all fords and dodges had fixed rear outputs along with most GM 205's. The only thing you need to be aware of is a change in the speedo gear on the output shaft but all you need to do is make sure you transfer all the parts from the donor case and you'll be fine.
Some of the 205 outputs were splined and some were a slip fit on the speedo, no biggie as long as you don't try to cross them up.
