2500 k5?

    this morning i saw a 90 or 91 k5 with 2500 as opposed to the normal 1500 on the side. i didnt get a good look at it, but is this a heavy duty version if so how were earyier heavy duty versions designated?

    What you saw was simply someone changing out the 1500 for the 2500 plack, since I now have a 3/4 ton Blazer I am going to do the same thing, mostly for fun and to confuse people.

    The only 3/4 ton blazers I know of are the military m1009's.The only difference in those were the heavier leaf springs (more plys).

    On both my Suburbans (1990 and 1977 with 1991 doors & front end), I have 3500 emblems on the doors. Course they both have 14 bolts in the rear and Dana 60s up front!!!

    I remember seeing a '73 or '74 Blazer with 3/4 ton axles and some sort of emblem designating heavy duty on the side panels. Never could figure out if it came from the factory that way, or if it was a custom job. One thing about that Blazer was that it was stock (no lift, big tires etc.), had lots of rust and was pretty beat. Not a prime rig for an axle swap..
