I'm running true 31's, and it's kinda doggy, not too bad though. And I don't/can't run in OD.

I've got 33's and it doesn't have the pickup it use to. Rides ok, but I'm about to put 235/75's back on it. (I'll probably be excommunicated from the fellowship for that remark!) Don't worry, I'm putting 35's on my shortbed. I use my k5 for towing a lot, and the 3.08's and 33 combo doesn't cut it.

My friend ran 39" MT Baja Belted tires on his 80 Shortbed for a while. He had a TH350...I think it killed the tranny, but he decided to do a whopping upgrade to 3.73...changing to 3.73 was a lot better.

i run 3.08's and33's with my truck (350tbi-sm465-np208) that thing is a rocket, no doggies for me. of corse it is a 87 4x4 shortbed. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif. but ive seen guys that run the 350-th350-np203 combo that run 35's and say hell yea, i guess it depends how how strong and powerful your drivetrain is for the 3.08's /forums/images/graemlins/deal.gif.

Don't use OD if you want to keep the tranny in the truck. The 700's are big babies when it comes to high gears and big tires. If you just keep it in drive you should be all set.

306? yikes! my rig came with 31s and 3.73 from the factory, worked pretty well. 306 seems high as heck for 33s. Hell, i run 4.56s with my 35s! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

interesting, i have a 350/465/208 and 3.08s and 33s also. only diff is i dont have tbi. its just fing around town but 4th gear up any grades sucks. its my daily driver so i'd like some highwayish gears but i think 3.42s or 3.73 would be good with 33s. of course a 4 speed helps tremendously. i had 3.08s with a 350/th350 and 31s and it sucked. also had a blazer with 400/th350 and 3.42s and it was perfect on the highway.

stick with something close to stock size. otherwise you are going to put more wear on the tranny, and get horribe mpg.
