Your stock tube should fit over a 4" toilet flange, or at least it did on mine. I'd go with 4".

Ya, I went from 4" toilet stuff on the stock hose, adapted down to 3" before it goes thru the fender, then 3" all the way up to the top. My reasoning is that 4" looked way too large for the truck. *shrug* just a esthetic thing... but the motor doesnt seem to be ailing at all.

    Good Luck

3" would flow plenty, especially for a stock engine. It would be easier to package/less bulky also.

Did you have to put a little cage around the opening so it doesn't suck in low-flying birds? hehe.

It depends on how you construct the snorkel, all that I'v seen are just left on. Even if it was removable you'd still have a hole in your fender or grill

I'ld like to see a nice 4"(?) snorkel made of steel tubing. Ya know, like exhaust pipe. Something that fits tight to the body, can take a mild branch beating, and not look I do plumbing on the side /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

I knew a guy that made one out of stainless 4" exhaust pipe. He worked (works?) at an exhaust shop.

It was almost beautiful. As you know, mandrel benders can only bend such a sharp amount before they ruin the metal. Well, he made his so it came out of the top of the fender on an angle. The tubing was all nice and pretty but he butchered the hell out of his fender.
