Just got my truck in today /forums/images/icons/smile.gif and much to my surprise it has a 3 Speed auto!!! and 4.10 gears.

Is this just deadly for this engine(6.2). Should I consider putting in a 700R.

That is not so rare. With the option Z82 (H.D. trailering spec.) there is the 4.10:1 ratio. Whether the TH400 is good or bad for you, that is your own thing. For fast ride on the highway or strength in offroad conditions?

No you just need bigger tires /forums/images/icons/grin.gif One ton CUCVs came through with 4.56's! (Highway NOT). A 35" tire should be alot more comfortable.

The TH400 is an excellent, robust transmission...it just limits you on top speed on the highway since you don't have overdrive. What size tires do you have? That will make a difference.

I love my 700, but it's difficult to swap transmissions in a 4x4. It can be done, but is it worth the trouble? It depends on what you plan to use the truck for.

Right now its stock TIRES. This truck is very very stock. But by XMAS a 4" lift and 33's, now considering 35's will go on it. Depending what goes on a 16" rim.

I never drive above 70 really. Mostly in town 55mph is max and when I got to my hunting spots I usually go 65mph.

So I guess once i get bigger tires I'll be back within my powerband correct?

LoL I have the TH400/NP208 combo with a 6.2L diesel with 4.56 gears. Can we say 60mph tops on the highway!! /forums/images/icons/shocked.gif
