31\" tires on a stock 1996 gmc jimmy

i was at a store yesterday... myself and my wife saw a GMC Jimmy identical to ours... white 4 door but had bigger tires on it... she liked it... so i looked at it.. they were 31" tires....

will 31's fit with no lift? this is a daily driver and will never see off road.... just curious... also will stock gearing be ok with 31's?
I dont even know what gears are in it.... i do however know her speedo is 4mph off... if i am doing 50 it is actually 54mph..... dunno why...!!!!!

Don't know for SURE, but look at the owners manual. Friend has an '88 or so, the 31" tires were optional. Kinda funny, since the manual states that you can't use chains (maybe you can on the rear only?) with the 31" tires.

Tire size difference will affect how the vehicle runs to a degree, so be aware that not correcting for tire size on a vehicle that new will cause *some* problems, but I have no idea on the overall effect.

My 2000 Ford Ranger has 31x10.50 on 15x8 wheels and they fit fine stock...I'm sure you'd have no problem what so ever putting them in the stock 7" wheels on a Jimmy.

Not the earlier ones at least. Same standard/option tires as the K5 IIRC.
