348 and 331 joints

    ok is NAPA 348 U joint the correct U joint to use when converting from 3/4 ton to 1/2 ton in 68 and is the 331 U joint correct for 68 3/4 ton 4 speed ?
    just checking, thats what I got today at NAPA,. says fed Mogul on the box, I suppose this is Spicer nowadays ?

    Yes, it is a 348. The 447 is for newer trucks w/ the internal c-clip. The 348 is for external c-clip.

    NO! Napa Federal Mogul is NOT Spicer. Spicer Ujoints are good. Federal Mogul Ujoints are one step above zip-tying and duck taping the driveshaft to the yoke. I think you have the correct PN for your application, but I strongly suggest a better Ujoint. I prefer Spicer, Autozone's Brute Force, and Carquest....in that order.

    well that sucks, cannot get spicer parts here, they said they couldnt thne he said they are spicer, i thought fed mog merged, mabye it was with fel pro, hmmmm
    i dunno,,
    cant get any parts in the midwest cornbelt...unless you have a combine.. thanks..

    You can order anything you need from Randy's Ring and Pinion. I got my D60 steering Ujoints from them...Spicer PN 332X. Basically, if the best is not available, use somethig made in the US with a warranty.
