35\'s & 454, what gears again?

I have 2.73 gears 33's that are getting ditched for 35's
a bitch'n 454 and rebuilt tranny. I putt the lift kit & tires on it and next thing I know, I blew the 350. Next thing tthat went was the tranny. lol.ha ha I think it's time for some new gears!
I drive it on the hiway once in a while so I need to keep the rpm down as much as I can but, can you just amagine.....
This Sucks! As soon as the bodyworks done I gotta change my gears. Does anyone have any sugestions what would work best? Old pops has a autowrecking shop for me to choose from.

If you have a 700r4 you should go with 4.10s. With a 350 you go with 4.56s but on the freeway you will be turning to many rpms for the big block.

Keep the 2.73s. It'll be gutless but it'll get good mileage. [IMG]

I'd probably get 4.10 gears. With a BBC and no overdrive though, 3.73s are possibly an option, but you'd give up some performance.

I'd probabley be happyer with 4:10's with 35's but I wonder what my rpm's would be on the hiway at a 120km/hr? I don't know.... I'll probably end up going with the 3:73's........In 4 low with the 208, it should be all right........

Don't spend the money on gears for a tenbolt rear with
454 ! Go 4.10's and 14 bolt rr & pray for your 700r4 !-Jim

You want to keep a big-block in the lower RPM range where the torque is...keep this in mind.

Big Block shouldn't care what gears are behind it. If you keep the 10 bolts, don't go any lower than 3.42

Big blocks do care. Tey dont like being reved high and dont like high rpm cruises. Keep the rpms around 2,000 for cruising to keep it alive.

Hey thanks RedDwarf, I think that what I'm gonna end up doing. I think with all the botom end I have with the 454 It doesn't make that much of a differnce and it will make it a little tougher. And use the cheap ujoints, instead of the bullitproof ones, so that my axles might last
