    35\'s and 3.73\'s who\'s running it?

    I currently am running small 33's and in the near future (when I install my BDS Springs) I'm gonna go to 35's. Any issues with 3.73's and 35's besides a bit slow off the line? I had 33's and 3.07's for 2 years,should I expect the same thing? Thanks

    You should be sluggish off the line. with your 350, you should be okay, though. If you are running a 700R4 tranny, you might not be able to use OD as much. Give it a try and see. If your tranny does a lot of downshifting at highway cruising speeds, run it in D to save the tranny.

    I run 35's w/ 3.73 gears.... No drag racer, but it works good for daily driving.

    Re: 35\'s and 3.73\'s who\'s running it?

    You know i got 35's and 3:73's and so does Greg72 for now.
    But you got the 700r4 that has a lower first and an overdrive.
    Us first gen guys are running TH-350s.
    I like it for now. Eventually I'll get some LOW gears and a built overdrive.

    The 3:73's and 35's are nice for the freeway (with 1:1 3rd).
    I'm pulling like 2800 or so keeping up with freeway traffic.
    It is a little sluggish outta the hole but with a few bolt ons to the engine make it better. /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

    Re: 35\'s and 3.73\'s who\'s running it?

    D = Drive
    OD = Overdrive

    D in a 700R4 is equivalent to 4th in a 4 speed manual. It is a 1:1 ratio in the tranny. OD was created for more optimum fuel economy at highway speeds. In the 700R4, it is a .7:1 ratio. That gives you 30% lower RPMs in overdrive than in drive.

    My first Blazer had 35's and 3.73's. My current Blazer has 35's and 4.10's. There definately is a difference in quickness off the line. Of course, the gas consumption is higher too!

    Re: 35\'s and 3.73\'s who\'s running it?

    I have 3.42's and I'm upgrading to 3.73's. with the current gears and 35's I still smoke the tire going aroiund a corner ( I need to stop that, my poor tires /forums/images/icons/smile.gif ). I will like the 3.73 because I should cruise around 2400 RPM at 60 mph (now I'm a little under 2200)

    I'm running 3.73s & 28" tires on my wife's Jeep. Its a daily driver w a 318 and an O/D trans. Sounds like you're geared way too high to me.

    35s with 3.73s here. Of course, I have a Th350. I run around 2500-2600 rpm going 65.

    That setup works fine with a 427 Big Block! /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

    My highway RPMs are nice and low.....but getting off-the-line takes a lot of torque from the engine.......

    Re: 35\'s and 3.73\'s who\'s running it?

    I have 3.73 with 35" tires. I hate it I've got a set of 4.56 on the shelf just waiting til I can afford a locker for the front. It's pretty nice on the highway thogh. I use to have a suburban with 3.73 and 35" tires and a 700R4 it didn"t seem as sluggish off the line as my blazer is, but it would'nt pull OD till around 75 mph. my 2 cents

    Re: 35\'s and 3.73\'s who\'s running it?

    I would have gotten 4.10's or maybe even 4.56's, but I dont have overdrive and didnt want to run the high R's on the freeway.

    Re: 35\'s and 3.73\'s who\'s running it?

    I ran on the street and rockcralwed with 35s and 3.73s for about 3 months. No problems, other than a little slow off the line. I stepped up to 4.56s and it was alot nicer all the way around, but are almost always driving in OD. I have 3.42s and 35s in my Suburban with a 700r4. I dont mind it since I can tow my boat down the freeway at 80 in drive and no problems, a little slow in the hills, but I just downshift into 2nd gear and have no problems. The hills are of course windy and steep.
