    35\'s and what gears again?

    This is what I have:
    Stock 88 K5
    -31's
    -700-R4
    -3.08 gears
I want to run 35's but am not sure as to what gear ratio I should look for. I did a gear calulation in Four Wheeler and it indicates I should run 3.73 and have the same affects as my stock K5. However, I know 3.08's suck even with 31's. So would I be safe to run 35's and 3.73 or should I go with 4.11's? It is going to be a daily driver and I want to be able to run in overdrive to keep descent gas mileage. Does anbody have this same set-up or what are you guys running?

I would run 4.11s. I have 4.56s in the Jimmy with 35s and it gets up and goes. overdrive helps keep the rpms down. As for just freeway driving 4.11s would be good. I use to have 3.73s and 35s on the Jimmy and it was okay but I wanted more get up and go.

go with 4.56s, then someday when u decide that 35s are weeny tires and want 36s or 37s, you can stick with the same gears. =)

I have 33's and 4.11's with no overdrive and not only is the acceleration great, but the RPM's on the highway are still OK. You are going with a bigger tire than me AND you have an overdrive. Get AT LEAST 4.56's otherwise you're going to hate yourself later. As long as you don't like cruising to work at 90 mph, then you could even do 4.88's. If I had an overdrive I would have gone 5.13's and 33's.....OH YEA!

I have 4.10's and 35's now and it is ok, would much rather have 4.56's but they are VERY hard to find

3.08s and 31"s Bahahaha, oh wait...thats what I have. Im sticking with 31"s cause a city slicker like me doesn't really worry about getting big tires. I am dumping the pukey 3.08s for 3.73s.

Re: 35\'s and what gears again?

    Ditto on what Mikey said. I have 4.10s and 35s. I ACHE for 4.56s. I have a 700R4 now.

Soon, I won't have overdrive, so it won't matter anymore. I'm getting bigger tires now.

Re: 35\'s and what gears again?

I have an '85, 305, 700R4, and 35s. I had 3.73s and it sucked. Went to 4.56s and have never been happier. 4.10s and 4.56s would have cost me the same, so I went bigger. I would have been disappointed with 4.10s.

Re: 35\'s and what gears again?

I have 4.11's and33's, and it winds out way too fast o nthe highway, or maybe I just drive too fast, but the RPM's are too high for my liking. If it was me, go with 4.11's and 35's, I kinda wish I had gone with 3.73's for better highway in mine, but oh well. So if you drive on the highway a lot, get 4.11's but if not, then 4.56's
