36\'s no lift, how much hacking?

I think my next phase is going to use 4.10 d44-14bff axles, 36"x13.5" Iroks, no lift, massive trimming. Does anyone have any pics of this or a similar set-up? Even pics of 35" tires with no lift would help give me an idea.

I'm hoping that it will be close to the same amount as a 4" suspension w/39.5's as this will be my final set-up. I would like to do all the hacking right now so that if I buy wrap around bumpers and rock sliders they will all fit the same this phase as they would on the 39.5" phase. /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif

Let's see some pics or hear some stories /forums/images/graemlins/deal.gif /forums/images/graemlins/ears.gif

I just happen to have a pic of a test fitting of 35x12.5x15 on my K5 with NO LIFT. It doesnt turn at all without trimming for sure

Do you guys figure that there would be the same amount of trimming for the 4" and 40's as 36's and no lift?

Hey Branndon did you have to modify your inners when you made those cuts or is that as large as you can cut without modifying them?

i had to modify my wheel wells. i they pretty much bolted back in except for the rear part where the angle of the cut is greater, a couple snips on the wheel well for flexability and a 4 pound sledge hammer, and we hammered the inner back flush with the truck. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

No, 36's and no lift would require more trimming. 40's have 2" more radius than 36's. The rear won't be much of an issue...my 36's would stuff completely into the wheelwell. However, the 36's will hit the inner part of the wheelwell in the rear for sure with no lift.

Up front you're gonna hit badly even with the mongo trimming I think. Trimmed a lot, 4" lift and all crossed up with stiff Rancho front springs I was close to the firewall if the wheels were turned. With no lift and much flexier stock springs it would have hit for sure.

I'd say lift it 4" and run the 36's for now and 40's later. For the 40's and that lift you'll need to shove the front diff forward at least an inch and get a little creative with the sheet metal.

I should have looked closer I suppose. Driving a K5 with 1 tons and no lift would look kinda funny though, like the guy around here with a dually axle in his C1500 that is still 5 lug up front and only has one tire on each side in the back (the inside dually tire). /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif

Can you move the front axle forward an inch to an inch and a half without affecting your steering?
