    39.5\'s or 42\'s?

Well, the UAV needs a new set of hiking shoes, I plan on 39.5's at the smallest, should I just say what the hell and get 42's? The UAV is not a daily driver anymore so not worried about that.

this is the same dilemma i was in............till I figured if I went w/ the 39.5's i would still want to go bigger-----so I say 42's and never have second thoughts. IMHO I would go 44's but there just too wide.

I think you should go ahead and get 42's. Since it's not a daily driver, it should not be much of a problem.

remember the days when a 39 was a huge tire?/forums/images/icons/laugh.gif/forums/images/icons/tongue.gif

anyway, i'd go for it and run 42's. if you have a chance take a look at Dblazer's K5 with 42's and that thing looks unstoppable.

42's Steve how many miles did you end up getting on the SSR's? Or do you just want bigger tires now?

And just exactly what answer did you expect to get here, hmmm? Did you really think anyone would say 39.5?

Ok, I will. Go with 39.5, then my rig will still have bigger tires! /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif

Anyway, see my sig for my choice/recommendation.

Well now that you are laid off, go over to ORD and swipe the tires off the Green Beast and try them on the UAV. Take it out and do a little test run with them. I think you have lost enough of the body to clear them reasonably well. /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

You should know by now that if you are trying to decide between 39.5's or 42's and then get the 39.5's, you'll be wishing for the 42's.
Plus, it'll make Steven have to go bigger /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif

IMO, spring for the 42's /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

My personal opinion would be for the 39.5's. We have several guys in the club who started out in mud bogging and went up to 39-42" tires, they are now all taking the tall and wide meats off and going to smaller sizes now that they are in to trail riding.

You should have done a poll.

    I vote 42's!

    Re: 39.5\'s or 42\'s?

I'd say 39.5. A little less weight to throw around, probably easier to deal with clearance wise and should offer more than enough ground clearance. Personally I don't see there is so much difference between the two tires to warrant the extra work to run the 42's, unless you're gonna go fender hack crazy or not run fenders at all. Even at that the firewall area is gonna be a PITA unless you move the axle even farther forward and start major surgery on the rad support area. IIRC you have about 5-6" of lift which is still less than the ORD Jimmy, and we've seen the amount of trimming, hacking and stuff that Stephen went through to clear them.

Are you planning on a big block too?

Call Watson, order a set of Trail Ready Beadlocks, then order some 42's for the awesome look.

I would say 42s. if you go smaller, you will want them sooner or later. Do you really want to wait for another set to need replacement before going to the 42s?
