I know this topic has been covered before. Do thick gear sets exist for the Dana 60 front axle to go from a 4.10 gear to a 5.13? I searched and got both yes and no answers. I can't afford to go to an ARB or a Detroit right now so if no thick gears are avalable it looks like I'll be stuck w/ 4.10's for a while /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif If you know where I can get the gears at a decent price or even a cheap carrier that'd be awesome. Thanks /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif (I was hoping to save the carrier and buy a cheaper locker (Lock-Right) for the front since I'm only going to 38.5" tires and don't do rock's.)

I'd probably stay with the 4.56's if I had them since I run a lot of mud. Not having to buy gears would save me some cha-ching so I could buy a locker or two. /forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

Quit your whining...4.10 down 14 bolt FF carriers are a dime a dozen in the junkyard!

I did quite a bit of searching when I installed my Dana 60 and could not find any "thick" gearsets for the 60. The only option I found was to use a ring gear spacer, or obviously get another 4.56-up carrier. There are mixed reviews about using the spacer so I'm not sure what to suggest.

I'm a machinest by trade and could possibly make the spacer if anyone knows the thickness of it. Other than that I guess I got my answer. Thanks for the quick responses guys /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

I was searching around for gears for my D60 and came across this...

    http://peakempire.com/new/store.html

Check out the D60 gear section, says that the Yukon gears they offer come in "Thick" design for the lower ratio carriers.

Ok, I searched a little more and found the "thick" 5.13 yukon gear set. It's reverse cut? that means it will fit my front, correct? /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif

Reverse cut won't work in a chevy 60, you're correct.

You can buy the ring gear spacers from many sources and they are relatively cheap.

I feel your pain. That's why I went with the 5.13s & a spacer for now. Picked mine up used. My plan is to up to a locker in the future. Then I can just remove the spacer & carrier and install the locker.

Yeah, my 5.13 swap was very expensive. It did unload the drivetrain quite a bit though. I stopped breaking transfer case adapters and blowing up drivelines.

The chart on their website may say that, but when I called to ask about them they were not available........

Not anailable might have just met currently. It is my understandung that they only make the gear sets a couple of times per year. You may need to check & see if they will become avaialble in the not so near future.

    Anyway, just a thought.

Where did you guys get ring gear spacers? I'd much rather do a spacer now than install a locker... the spacer would save me enough money to get the tires I want, not just ones I can afford /forums/images/graemlins/1zhelp.gif
