If you haev a 14 FF with 3.08 now and you want to upgrade to 4.56 you need to get the "thick" ring set. The carrier will only work up to 3.73. I would slap on a set of genuine gears from 4wpw. They sell the "thick" set.

I think you can get the thick ring set up to a 4.10. After that you need to change to a series 4 carrier that will handle 3.73 up on the 12 bolt and I think on the 14 it's 4.10 up.

The 14 should work. The 10 will need a new carrier. to big of a jump from 3.08 to 4.56.

    Carriers???

What??? Explain to me please what a carrier is? I went from 3.08-4.56 , the shop did it but never said anyhtign about a carrier? Also go to www.drivetrainwarehouse.com they sell genuine gear for cheap. I bought 2 sets of 4.56 and 2 install kits that run about 50-80 by themselves. For 400 total free shipping. It was a good deal imo

Just track down a junkyard that has one. That will definetly be your cheapest route.

Find a 3/4 ton 10 bolt in the junkyard. It'll already have a 4.10 ring and pinion, and carrier, most likely.

YOU DONT NEED A CARRIER. The case brake for a 10 bolt is 2.73 and down and 3.08 and up.

The 10B uses the same carrier from 2.73:1 & up (numerically, as in 4.88 or 5.57). Your 3.08 carrier is good for 4.56 gears. The other carrier is for 2.43-2.56. If you had one of these odd balls then go to the junkyard and get the other one. BTW, anyone wonder what that 5.57:1 10B R&P looks like?
