Did the stock 400 chevy heads come with 76cc combustion chambers or just 64cc? Does a bigger combustion chamber make more or less power. I know that it will lower compression ratios, but you can fit more air and fuel cant you?

I beleive a smaller chamber will produce a higher compression. Seems I have heard of people useing 305 heads on 350s to up the compression. Don't have an answer for you on the first question.

Stock 400 heads have 76cc chambers and average flow characteristics. The more compression you can run without detonation problems and having to run high octane gas, the more power you will produce. Remember that with the same type pistons a 350 with 76cc chambers will have a lower compression ratio than a 400 with the same heads. The more volume a cylinder has the higher the compression ratio will be with the same heads.
