    Found this code on the front axle 44-5 GF, can anybody give me more information on what this is, I know its a 44 but is it a Dana or something else?

    The only 44 you will see is a Dana 44 so yes.

    ok ok ok what you have is a early dana 44 front axle the additional # are specifying its a 3/4 ton with .500 tubes :D thats what building custom axles for years teaches ya..

    I thought it meant it will cost you 5 girlfriends when you get the wheeling bug and start modifying everything and spend all your time on the rig.

    Kinda like reading tea leaves. lol

    The ones I've seen, the digit after the 44 was 1/2 ton. I've had alot of 3/4 ton 44s, and had an 8 there. Seen 5, 6, and 8. :dunno:

    look again 5 6 and 8 all could be the same # if the axle was cast with a inperfection in the cast it would look like a 5 or a 6 the 8 does not signify the 8 lug it just signifys .500 tubes
