if you and 2 friends go to a hunting lodge, and each pay $10 to stay for the night, you will be handing the counterman $30... you make it to your rooms and the manager decides to cut you a break and send $5 up with the bellboy... the bellboy decides to keep 2 bucks because its easier to split $3 3 ways than $5 3 ways... gives you each 1 buck back and now you have each spent $9 for the night instead of 10... where's the extra dollar? remember you started giving 30, got 3 back and the bellboy kept 2... but 9+9+9=27....+2(bellboy)=29...

lets see the 2 bucks for the bell boy is already part of the 27$ so you don't need to add it so
    9+9+9=27....-2(bellboy)+5 back=30

each paid 9.33 for the room. .66x3 is what the bellboy kept from each of the the friends. the two dollars that the bellboy kept. So the Bellboy could even keep the extra penny if it would make things easier...

Please don't do my taxes this year. I would end up a much larger bill :)
