A friend of mine has a 91 with a 454TBI/4L80E. He is going to put a early 80's turbo diesel in place of the 454. Will the 6.2 mount up to the 4L80E, will the torque converter need to be changed, and what else will work, or will not work that will be needed to be changed out?? Thanks Tim

I think the 4L80E would probably bolt up to the 6.2, but I don't think the 6.2 was a turbo.

The computer that controls the TBI also provides the signals for the transmission. Since the diesel doesn't have EFI, it requires a different computer to control the trans. He'll need to get a standalone transmission control computer for the 4L80E from a factory diesel application. There are also places that sell aftermarket control computers for that tranny.
