My brother blazer came with a 465/208 combo.... What spline is the output shaft on the 465?

Also, what esle will bolt to this besie the 208? To bolt up a 205 to this 4 speed, the tail shaft would have to be changed and it would need another adapter, correct? How hard is swapping out the tail shaft?

    Thanks...

You failed to mention what year the 465/208 combo is. I do know that either the 82 or 83 year the 465's were changed to 32 spline that matches the TH400. So, you can use either the 208 or 205 behind the 465 or 400 providing you have the proper adaptor. If you have the 32 spline 465, its just a matter of locating the 205 from an one ton up to 84. The 85 on up have a round adaptor bolt pattern. I have never personally changed the tail shaft, but ask Shawn since his Potent Rodent buildup on the Off-Road site tells about the swap.

Now that its an 86, you have the "double hump" t-case crossmember. In order to keep this crossmember, you need to find a 205 out of an 85 or newer. This one will use the round bolt pattern in order to re-use the crossmember. These will be hard to find. If the crossmember is no biggie to you, you can find the 84 and older 205's easier and just use the flat crossmember that are so plentiful. Try to find one that was mated to a 465 so you can get the adaptor. If you find one that was with an automatic, no biggie, just find the adaptor on the older trucks that had the 465/205 combo. These are also plentiful.
