I found a guy whith some parts blazers and 2 of them have these trannies.

What is the difference between the two? These are related to the 700r4, right? If they are related then are they junk as well? Also, can anybody tell me how to identify them by their pans or something?

They are not junk, and if you want to see the pan shape I think it's either in the Garage or the bloody knuckle, do a search.

What about the 4l6O? Is that the one that is a renamed 700R4? Either way, will it hold up to a good beating?

The reson I ask is all the bad things I hear about the 700. If the 4L60 is just a 700 then it might not be what I am looking for.

    Thanks for your replies guys.

The 4L60 is the 700 Renamed. However it is not junk in my opinion. The early 700's had problems and over the years they worked many of these out. As long as you run the correct gears for your tires and don't run a rompin motor you should be fine.
