4WD Lubrication / front end whining noise?

    4wd makes a whine noise when engaged. Is this normal? (No knocking or banging noises for once)

    Also, it is a bit$h to get it engaged in and out of 4wd.

    Should sequence be:
    Park, hubs lock, transfer case 4 lo, drive?

    I'm going to check dif and transfer case oil tonight. Any other thoughts? (maybe this is normal ?)

    being a bitch to shift the transfer case can be par for the course. hard to tell from just talking if it's dry or not. typically it will whine if dry, so it's possible.

    if the locker is whining, it may need to be greased, but again, hard to tell from what you are saying. some whining on new parts is typical imo. maybe give it a few days?

    honestly, again, being a bitch to shift sometimes really is no big deal. sometimes you have to pop the clutch a time or two even.
    sometimes I have to get in and out of the truck 3 or 4 times, rolling the truck back and forth a few feet trying to get the hubs to unlock (tcase shouldn't be THAT hard though).

    maybe better greasing would help, but in my experience, its just the way it works sometimes. maybe one of the other guys will have better advice.

    obviously make sure you have the proper level of fluid
    sometimes if there is pressure on the driveshaft, it can be hard to shift the T-case.
    It might also be a damaged shift fork, which is internal. I had to replace my 4 low fork.
    Also, neutral can be used to shift into 4wd. It's easier, since it's closer to DRIVE and can sometimes be easier to get into 4wd since you can roll the truck a little.

    Just curious, which T-case?
